Northwest

SongFest

A music festival aimed at supporting and showcasing local Singer/Songwriters in the beautiful hills of Scotts Mills OR,

September 7th 2024.

Where??

This year we are holding Northwest SongFest at Confluence Arts Center in beautiful Scotts Mills Oregon. We felt it was important to embrace small town Oregon that’s reflected in so many of our songs, and Confluence Arts Center creates a beautiful, intentional container for this festival.

What??

Northwest SongFest is all about supporting and celebrating local singer/songwriters. We aim to promote their music, connect them with their local audience, and spotlight their individual talents. Over the course of the day there will be 9 performers, as well as activities, vendors, and more! All profits from the event go to the performers to help build their careers and futures as musicians.

Music by John Friedrick (aka Friendmaker)

meet your host

Hey y’all! My name is Garreson and I’ve been a performer in the Willamette Valley for the last two years and have loved every moment of it. Born and raised in Oregon, my Grandfather (the legendary country western songwriter Monte Garrison) taught me to play guitar and sing in my teenage years as a way of coping with life. After he passed I became determined to make something of myself in the music world. Through my time performing all over the Willamette Valley I’ve come to realize that we have a great deal of underrepresented musical talent in our local community. I wanted to create this festival as a way of spotlighting the talent that’s right outside our front doors every day, and connecting musicians with a wider audience.

the lineup

Friendmaker

Friendmaker writes journal songs reflecting the small details of life, contemplative spirituality, and inner landscapes. He’s been writing and performing in the Silverton area for 16 years.

Jojo Gold

Jojo Gold is a Queer singer-songwriter celebrating the release of her newest album RADIATE. Jojo blends indie/folk, dark chill, and pop/punk into her intimate yet arena like performances. She has shared the staged with Shara Nova of MY BRIGHTEST DIAMOND, Joan Jett, Alex Olson, Bitch, and many other talented artists. A few musical influences include Ani Defranco, Patti Smith, Led Zeppelin, The Cars, PJ Harvey, Cat Power, and Warpaint. Originating from Milwaukee WI, Jojo Gold is establishing her PNW roots in Portland OR.

Rose Gerber

Based in Portland OR, Rose Gerber is an intrepid American roots explorer, incorporating country, folk, rock, alt-rock, and alt-country into a seamless signature aesthetic. As a writer she’s both sensitive and sassy, equally gifted penning Heartland rock n’ roll and heartbreaking balladry. Her songs are snapshots of everyday living that show the meaning in the seemingly mundane. Rose’s vocals are elegantly emotive, and she has been favorably compared to Natalie Merchant, Gillian Welch, and Patty Griffin.

Matthew Nelson Price

Matthew Nelson Price is a Folk/Americana singer-songwriter from Silverton, Oregon. Radio host Allen Mullen once described his music as “always insightful, often whimsical, and full of his warm, laid-back human spirit”. As a boy, he grew up with his brother at Canyonview youth camp just outside Silverton, where his dad Dale was the director. Matt got his musical start playing his dad’s old guitar and entertaining campers with cowboy songs by the campfire night after night. Now, a few decades later Matt has released several albums as well as a number of singles all of which can be heard at matthewnelsonprice.com. He keeps toes tapping, hearts pounding and ears tickled with well-crafted original songs as well as creative cover versions of his predecessors such as Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Petty and his personal favorite, John Prine. Matt spent several years living, writing, and performing in Nashville, but is now thankful to be living and raising his four sons back in his hometown of Silverton.

Elyce Tyler

Elyce Tyler, based in Silverton, began performing locally in 2017 at the Fischer Mill Festival. Since then, songwriting has been her one foot on shore, to weather the shocker storms of life. Processing struggles through songwriting, Tyler has amassed a large catalogue of original songs, in styles melancholic and soulful to charged and driving. Dark, yet stubbornly upbeat, Elyce's songs deal with what life deals. Once too stage-shy to perform, Elyce Tyler is finding her home on stage, connecting with her audience in mutual befuddlement at this thing called life. Her rich and emotive voice lays the backdrop of ever-present duhkha (suffering) and from it lets shine the treasures of life’s joys, be they love or volition. Elyce’s style might be called something like Indy rock with passion. Listeners may be reminded of Poe, Edie Brickell, Florence and the Machine, or Carina Round. In the uninterrupted lava vein flow of conscious expression, Elyce takes the baton and uses it to slice out slivers of insight and reasons to keep going. Elyce currently plays shows throughout the mid-Willamette Valley, both solo and, beginning this year, full band shows.

Hannah Wood

Hannah Wood is a 23 year old indie singer/songwriter from Salem, OR. Her witty lyrics matched with her skilled guitar playing will have you seeing her name in lights. She is currently working on her debut album HELLO TO A WOMAN which will be released in 2024.

Jobe Woosley & Co.

Jobe Woosley & Co. was born on a small blueberry farm in 2014. Jobe had started writing more of his own music after deep diving into late 60's and 70's folk. This brought together a group of friends to create Jobe Woosley & Co. This group released an EP FROM MOUNTAINS TO SEA (2014) and DONT GET ME WRONG (2017). After a hiatus kicked off by the pandemic in 2020, Jobe released an album titled RETURN TO SATURN (2024) and is performing with his partner Kate Kisselburgh (who will be joining him at Northwest Songfest) on keys and vocals, Shep on bass, and Charlie Fitz on drums.

Sunny Pache

Sunny Pache is a local singer-songwriter with an alternative folky twangy twist. Originally hailing from New England and spending the last few years living in the foothills of Appalachia, his music has a rustic feel that provides the listener with warm tones and thoughtful storytelling. He has toured nationally and performed with big acts such as Chadwick Stokes of Dispatch, Blake Christina of Yarn, and The Commonheart.

Garreson

Garreson will not only be hosting the show, but he’ll also be performing alongside our amazing lineup of musicians. Hailing from Eastern Oregon (yes, the land beyond Bend), Garreson made his debut in Silverton OR, as part of the annual Sidewalk Shindig in 2022. Blending Americana roots with country, soul, folk, and classic rock, Garreson boasts a big voice and an even bigger heart. He quickly created a following in the Silverton area and has been branching out into Salem, Portland, and beyond! He is currently recording his debut album titled MONTE after his country singer/songwriter grandfather Monte Garrison, which he hopes to release later this year.
